Brikama is one of the largest cities in Gambia, located southwest of the national capital, Banjul. Known locally as "Satey Ba," which translates to "big town," it serves as a significant urban center within the country.
The city functions as the headquarters of the Brikama Local Government Area (LGA). This region is composed of over twenty-five wards and has a population exceeding 100,000. According to the 2013 census, the total population of the Brikama LGA was recorded at 730,895.
