Serekunda is a major city located in The Gambia. It serves as the country's largest metropolitan area and is situated near the capital city of Banjul along the Gambia River, close to the Atlantic coast.
The city is part of an urbanized region known as the Kombos, which it shares with Banjul. Together, these two areas house approximately half of the total population of The Gambia.
