Nuuk is the capital and most populous city of Greenland, which serves as an autonomous territory of Denmark. It functions as the seat of the Sermersooq municipality and the government of Greenland, establishing it as the territory's primary cultural and economic center.
As of January 2025, Nuuk had a population of 20,113, representing more than one-third of the total population of Greenland. Due to this demographic size, it is recognized as one of the smallest capital cities in the world by population.
