Techiman is a city located in the Bono East Region of Ghana. It serves as the capital of both the Techiman Metropolitan District and the Bono East Region. The city is situated approximately 32 miles (51 km) from Sunyani and about 65 miles (105 km) from Kumasi.
The city features a tropical savanna climate characterized by two wet seasons and one dry season. According to the 2010 census released by the Ghana Statistical Service, Techiman had a population of 67,241. The local population is composed of several ethnic groups, including the Akan, Bono, Gonja, Dagomba, Sisala, and Mamprusi people.
As of 2021, Benjamin Yaw Gyarko serves as the mayor of the Techiman Metropolitan District.
