Sunyani is a city located in the Bono Region of Ghana. It serves as the capital of both the Sunyani Municipal District and the broader Bono Region. Geographically, the city is situated approximately 105 miles (169 km) northwest of Kumasi and about 300 miles (480 km) from the national capital, Accra.
As of the 2010 census, Sunyani was ranked as the sixth-largest city in Ghana, with a recorded population of 75,366 people. The city is home to a diverse range of ethnic groups, including the Akan, Northerner, Ewe, and Ga-Adangbe. As of 2024, the municipality is led by Mayor Hon. Ansu Kumi.
