Bawku is a town located in the Upper East Region of northern Ghana. It serves as the capital of the Bawku Municipal District and is situated adjacent to the border with Burkina Faso. The municipality covers a total land area of approximately 257 square kilometers.
The town was officially established by Legislative Instrument (L.I) 2103. According to 2021 data, Bawku had a population of 119,458 people.
