Buduburam is a former refugee camp and settlement located in the Central region of Ghana. It is situated approximately 44 kilometers (27 miles) west of Accra along the Accra–Cape Coast Highway.
The site was established in 1990 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide housing for Liberian refugees fleeing both the First and Second Liberian Civil Wars. While most residents formally lost their refugee status in 2010 following the withdrawal of UNHCR services, the area remained a recognized settlement until recent years.
In 2024, Buduburam underwent large-scale demolitions and repatriation efforts. These actions effectively ended its historical role as a primary refugee settlement in the region.
