Zemo Nikozi is a village located in the Shida Kartli region of central Georgia. It is recognized as one of the country's oldest villages and serves as the birthplace of Patriarch Kyrion II of Georgia.
The area is characterized by its historical significance, featuring early Christian churches and various historical monuments. While its Palace was completely destroyed during the Russo-Georgian War, the village has seen cultural revitalization through the 5th Animation International Film Festival held in September 2015. This festival has established the town as a cultural center for local youth and is supported by the presence of the Nikozi Art School.
