Tintern is a village located in the community of Wye Valley on the west bank of the River Wye in Monmouthshire, Wales. Situated close to the border with England, it lies approximately 5 miles (8 km) north of Chepstow. The modern settlement was formed by the coalescence of two historic villages: Tintern Parva at the northern end and Chapel Hill at the southern end.
The village is a designated Conservation Area and is a popular destination for tourists. It is primarily known for its scenic landscape and the ruins of Tintern Abbey.
