Port Talbot is an industrial port town and community located in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales. It is situated on the east side of Swansea Bay, approximately 8 miles (13 km) from the city of Swansea.
The town is characterized by its heavy industry, specifically the Port Talbot Steelworks, which dominates the southeast portion of the area. As the largest steelworks in the United Kingdom and one of the largest globally, it has been a primary industrial landmark for the region since at least the 1980s.
As of 2021, Port Talbot had a population of 31,550, representing about one-fifth of the total population of the Neath Port Talbot county borough.
