Ponthir is a village and community situated in the south-east of the county borough of Torfaen in the United Kingdom. It is located on the boundary between the counties of Monmouthshire and Newport.
The settlement is positioned approximately six miles from the city centre of Newport and 3½ miles from Cwmbran. Geographically, it lies between the settlements of Caerleon and Llanfrechfa.
