Aberdare is a town located in the Cynon Valley area of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is situated at the confluence of the Rivers Dare and Cynon. The town has a population of 39,550 and is positioned approximately 4 miles south-west of Merthyr Tydfil, 20 miles north-west of Cardiff, and 22 miles east-north-east of Swansea.
During the 19th century, Aberdare developed into a thriving industrial settlement. It was notably recognized for its vital cultural life and served as an important publishing centre during this period.
