Cumbernauld

United Kingdom

Cumbernauld is a town located in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, within the historic county of Dunbartonshire. Situated in the center of Scotland's Central Belt, it is the most populated town in North Lanarkshire and ranks as the tenth most-populous locality in the country.

Geographically, the town sits on the Scottish watershed between the Forth and the Clyde. While its location places it between east and west, it is culturally oriented toward Glasgow. This orientation was a deliberate result of New Town planning, which aimed to house 80% of its residents from Scotland's largest city to alleviate housing pressure in that urban area.
