Bishopbriggs is a town located in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It is situated on the northern fringe of Greater Glasgow, approximately 4 miles (6 km) from the city centre.
Historically, the area was part of the county of Lanarkshire and once belonged to the historic parish of Cadder. These lands were originally granted by King William the Lion to Jocelin, the Bishop of Glasgow, in 1180. The town also served as an independent burgh from 1964 to 1975.
Due to its close geographic proximity to Glasgow, Bishopbriggs currently functions as a suburb and commuter town for the city.
