Newtownards, also referred to as Ards, is a town located in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is situated on the Ards Peninsula at the northernmost tip of Strangford Lough, approximately 10 miles (16 km) east of Belfast. The town falls within the civil parish of Newtownards and the historic baronies of Ards Lower and Castlereagh Lower.
Administratively, Newtownards is part of the Ards and North Down Borough. According to the 2021 Census, the town had a population of 29,677 residents.
