York is a cathedral city located in North Yorkshire, England. Situated at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, it has Roman origins and serves as the traditional county town of Yorkshire as well as the administrative centre of the City of York district.
The city is characterized by its numerous historic buildings and structures, including the minster, castle, and city walls, all of which are Grade I listed. Geographically, it is positioned 27 miles north-east of Leeds, 90 miles south of Newcastle upon Tyne, and 207 miles north of London. As of the 2021 census, the built-up area had a recorded population of 141,685.
