Tewkesbury is a market town and civil parish located in the northern part of Gloucestershire, England. It serves as the namesake for the Borough of Tewkesbury and is situated near the border of Worcestershire, which is largely defined by the Carrant Brook.
The town developed significantly following the construction of Tewkesbury Abbey during the twelfth century. Its geographical position at the confluence of the River Severn and the River Avon established it as an important trading point. Historically, the town also played a significant role in the Wars of the Roses.
