Sutton upon Derwent is a small village and civil parish located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the banks of the River Derwent.
The village is positioned approximately 8 miles (13 km) to the south-east of York. It lies less than a mile from the larger village of Elvington, which is notably included within the City of York boundary. Further along the B1228 road lies the village of Melbourne.
