Stockport is a town located in Greater Manchester, England. It serves as the main settlement of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Geographically, it is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) south-east of Manchester, 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne, and 12 miles (19 km) north of Macclesfield.

The town is notable for its geography as the point where the rivers Goyt and Tame merge to form the River Mersey. According to the 2021 census, the built-up area of Stockport had a population of 117,935, while the total population of the metropolitan borough was 294,773.
