South Ockendon is a town situated in the borough of Thurrock in Essex, England. It is located near the border with Greater London and lies just outside the M25 motorway. The area to its north is known as North Ockendon.
Historically, South Ockendon functioned as a parish until 1936, when the parish was abolished for civil purposes and incorporated into Thurrock. According to the 2021 census, the built-up area of South Ockendon had a population of 22,440.
