Ryde is a seaside village and civil parish located on the north-east coast of the Isle of Wight in England. According to the 2021 Census, the parish had a population of 24,096 residents.
The area developed as a seaside resort following the merger of the villages of Upper Ryde and Lower Ryde during the 19th century. This history is reflected in the architecture found throughout the town's center and along its seafront. The local coastline features expansive sands that are revealed at low tide.
Due to the width of these sands, the regular ferry service to the mainland utilizes a long listed pier. This structure is recognized as the oldest surviving pier of its kind in the United Kingdom and ranks as the fourth longest in the country.
