Runcorn is an industrial town and cargo port located in the Borough of Halton in Cheshire, England. It forms part of the Liverpool City Region and is situated on the south bank of the River Mersey at a point where the estuary narrows to create the Runcorn Gap.
The town is positioned approximately 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Liverpool and 29 miles (47 km) southwest of Manchester. According to the 2021 census, the Runcorn built-up area had a population of 61,145.
