Royal Leamington Spa

United Kingdom

Royal Leamington Spa, commonly known as Leamington Spa or simply Leamington, is a spa town and civil parish located in the Warwick district of Warwickshire, England. The town derives its name from the River Leam, which flows through the area.

Originally established as a small village called Leamington Priors, the settlement developed into a prominent spa town during the 18th century. This growth was driven by the popularization of local water, which was reputed to possess medicinal qualities. During the 19th century, the town underwent one of the most rapid periods of expansion in England.
