Retford, also known as East Retford, is a market town situated in the Bassetlaw District of Nottinghamshire, England. It is located on the River Idle and along the Chesterfield Canal. Geographically, the town sits approximately 26 miles east of Sheffield, 23 miles west of Lincoln, and 31 miles north-east of Nottingham.
The town has a population of 23,740 as recorded in the 2021 census. While it serves as a local hub, it is bypassed by the A1 road.
