Prescot is a town and civil parish located in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley, Merseyside, England. Situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) east of Liverpool city centre, it serves as a notable geographical point marking the beginning of the A58 road, which extends toward Wetherby near Leeds in West Yorkshire.
The town's population figures vary by administrative boundary; the civil parish recorded 11,184 residents in the 2001 Census, while the larger Prescot East and West wards reached a combined total of 14,139 in 2011.
