North Elmsall is a village located within the civil parish of Upton and North Elmsall in the City of Wakefield district of West Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately seven miles from Pontefract, nine miles from both Barnsley and Doncaster, and eleven miles from Wakefield.
Historically, the parish was part of the Hemsworth Rural District until 1974. According to census data, the population of the civil parish was 4,093 in 2001 and decreased to 3,873 in 2011.
