Newton Abbot is a market town and civil parish situated on the River Teign within the Teignbridge District of Devon, England. The town experienced rapid growth during the Victorian era, primarily due to its role as the home of the South Devon Railway locomotive works. This site later functioned as a major steam engine shed for British Railways diesel locomotives until 1981 and currently houses the Brunel industrial estate.
