Mansfield is a market town located in Nottinghamshire, England. Situated in the Maun Valley approximately 12 miles north of Nottingham, it serves as the administrative centre of the Mansfield District. It is the largest town within the wider Mansfield urban area and ranks as the second-largest settlement in the county after the city of Nottingham.
The town was granted a Royal Charter of a market town by Henry III in 1227. Historically, it served as a pre-eminent location among the towns of Sherwood Forest. As of the 2021 census, the district had a population of 110,500. Mansfield is also notable for being the only local authority in Nottinghamshire with a publicly elected mayor.
