Kirkby is a town located in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley within the county of Merseyside, England. Historically situated in Lancashire, the town covers an area of approximately 4,070 acres (16.5 km2). It is positioned roughly 5 miles (8 km) north of Huyton and 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Liverpool.
As of 2016, Kirkby had a population of 41,495 residents. This figure makes it the largest town in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley and ranks as the ninth largest settlement in Merseyside.
