Kenley is a suburb located within the London Borough of Croydon in the southern boundary of London, England. It is situated approximately 13 miles (21 km) south of Charing Cross. Historically, the area was part of the ancient parish of Coulsdon in the county of Surrey and established a rail connection to central London in 1856.
The suburb is characterized by its surrounding geography, as it is bordered on three sides by the Metropolitan Green Belt. Notable landmarks within the area include the large open spaces of Kenley Common and Kenley Aerodrome. As the local population grew, Kenley became part of the Coulsdon and Purley Urban District in 1915 before joining Greater London in 1965.
According to the 2011 Census, the population of Kenley was 14,966. The area remains a residential suburb defined by its proximity to significant green spaces and aviation facilities.
