Ipswich is a port town and borough situated in Suffolk, England, on the Orwell river. Located approximately 65 miles (105 km) northeast of London, it serves as the county town and is the largest urban center in Suffolk. It ranks as the third-largest population center in East Anglia, following Peterborough and Norwich.

As of 2011, Ipswich had a population of 144,957. The built-up area of the town is the fourth-largest in the East of England and the 42nd-largest in England and Wales. The surrounding area includes several towns and villages, such as Kesgrave, Woodbridge, Bramford, and Martlesham Heath.
