Hornsea is a seaside town and civil parish located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The settlement has a history dating back to at least the early medieval period.
The town underwent significant expansion during the Victorian era following the arrival of the Hull and Hornsea Railway in 1864. During the First World War, the nearby mere served as the site for RNAS Hornsea Mere, which functioned as a seaplane base. In the Second World War, both the town and its beach were heavily fortified to defend against potential invasion.
