Hedge End is a town and civil parish located in Hampshire, England. It is situated to the east of the City of Southampton and adjoins the districts of West End and Botley. The area lies within the Borough of Eastleigh and is considered part of the Southampton Urban Area.
The origins of the settlement date back to after 1250, when the original hamlet developed on Botley Common as common pasture granted to the men of Botley. In 1267, royal charters permitted Botley to hold a weekly market and an annual fair on the common, which facilitated its development into a market town.
