Havant is a town located in the south-east corner of Hampshire, England. It serves as a primary population center within a wider borough that also includes the resort of Hayling Island, the town of Waterlooville, and the town of Emsworth.
The area is situated near several other notable locations, including Portsmouth to the south-west, Southampton to the west, Chichester to the east, and Hayling Island to the south. The region experienced significant growth in housing and population during the 20 years following World War II. This expansion was characterized by a major conversion of land from woodland and agriculture into residential areas following the Blitz and the incendiary bombing of Portsmouth.
