Harlow is a town and local government district situated in the western part of Essex, England. Historically characterized as a small settlement until the mid-20th century, it underwent significant expansion following its designation as a new town in 1947.
The development of the area resulted in the creation of extensive housing estates, industrial zones, and a new town centre. These modern developments are primarily located to the west and south of the original settlement, which is now referred to as Old Harlow.
