Gosforth is an area located in Newcastle upon Tyne, within the county of Tyne and Wear, England. Situated north of the city centre, it was historically established as a separate urban district of Northumberland from 1895 until 1974. It officially merged with the city of Newcastle upon Tyne following that period.
As of 2001, Gosforth had a population of 23,620 residents. The area serves as a significant residential and urban component of the greater Newcastle region.
