Crigglestone is a village and civil parish located in the City of Wakefield within West Yorkshire, England. It was historically recorded as "Crigeston" in the Domesday Book. According to the 2011 Census, the civil parish had a population of 9,271 residents.
The area is notable for its industrial history, specifically regarding the Crigglestone Colliery. On July 29, 1941, an explosion at the colliery resulted in the deaths of 21 men. Since the 1970s, the former colliery site has been repurposed into an industrial estate on its western side, with residential housing developed to the east and a public amenity established to the south.
