Chesham is a market town and civil parish located in Buckinghamshire, England, within the United Kingdom. It is situated in the Chess Valley, surrounded by farmland, approximately 11 miles (18 km) south-east of Aylesbury and about 26 miles (42 km) north-west of central London. The town is currently part of the London commuter belt.
The area has a long history, with archaeological evidence indicating human presence dating back to around 8000 BC. The earliest written records of Chesham as a settlement appear in the second half of the 10th century. In 1257, King Henry III granted the town a royal charter for a weekly market.
