Carshalton is a town located in south London, England, within the London Borough of Sutton. It features a historic village centre and is situated in the valley of the River Wandle. The river originates at Carshalton Ponds, which are located in the southern part of the village.
The town is positioned approximately 9.5 miles (15.3 km) southwest of Charing Cross and about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) east of Sutton town centre. Before the establishment of Greater London in 1965, Carshalton was part of the administrative county of Surrey.
