Brighouse is a town located in the metropolitan borough of Calderdale within West Yorkshire, England. Historically situated in the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies on the River Calder approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Halifax. The town is served by Junction 25 of the M62 motorway and includes Brighouse railway station, which provides access to the Caldervale Line and Huddersfield Line.
The town center features a mooring basin on the River Calder and Hebble Navigation. While it maintains an HD6 postcode, Brighouse is associated with Halifax for local government purposes. According to census data, the population of the Brighouse ward of Calderdale Council was 11,195 in 2011, while the broader Brighouse / Rastrick subdivision of the West Yorkshire Urban Area recorded a population of 32,360 in 2001.
