Blackburn is an industrial town located in Lancashire, England. It serves as the administrative centre of the Blackburn with Darwen borough and sits at the heart of a wider unitary authority area that includes the town of Darwen.
Geographically, the town is situated north of the West Pennine Moors on the southern edge of the Ribble Valley. It is positioned approximately 8 miles (13 km) east of Preston and 21 miles (34 km) north-north-west of Manchester. Blackburn is recognized as the second largest town in Lancashire, following Blackpool.
