Bishop's Stortford is a market town and civil parish located in the East Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. It is situated approximately 11 miles (18 km) east-north-east of Hertford and 28 miles (45 km) north-north-east of Charing Cross in central London. The town sits on the border with the county of Essex.
The area is characterized by its proximity to major transport links, with the M11 motorway passing to the east of the town and Stansted Airport located immediately east of that motorway. According to the 2021 census, the parish had a population of 40,955, while the built-up area recorded a population of 40,915.
