Accrington

Accrington is a town located in the Hyndburn borough of Lancashire, England. It is situated on the culverted River Hyndburn and lies approximately 4 miles east of Blackburn, 6 miles west of Burnley, and 13 miles east of Preston. The town is positioned about 20 miles north of Manchester.

As the largest settlement in its area, Accrington serves as the seat of the Hyndburn borough council. According to the 2011 census, the town has a population of 35,456. Locally, the town is commonly abbreviated as "Accy."
