Yene are small wooden statues located throughout the Leti Islands, which are situated in the southeastern part of the Maluku archipelago in eastern Indonesia. These artifacts serve a specific spiritual purpose within the local culture.
The statues are believed to function as vessels for ancestor spirits. According to local belief, these spirits reside temporarily within the Yene before eventually departing for the land of the dead.
