Tsampa, also referred to as tsamba, is a staple foodstuff prominent in the Himalayan region, particularly in Tibet and parts of northern Nepal. It is characterized as a glutinous meal produced from roasted flour.
The primary ingredient for this food is typically barley flour, though it can also be prepared using wheat flour or flour derived from tree peony seeds. In its traditional preparation, tsampa is commonly consumed mixed with Tibetan butter tea. The dish is also found in Turkestan and Mongolia, where it is known by the name zamba.
