Sorgues is a commune situated in the southeastern French department of Vaucluse. It is located just north of the city of Avignon and lies on the border with the department of Gard.
The geography of the commune is defined by its proximity to several waterways. The river Ouvèze, which serves as a tributary of the Rhône, runs through Sorgues along with its own tributary, the Sorgue. The latter begins at the Fontaine de Vaucluse.
