Rodez is a small city and commune located in the southern region of France. It is situated approximately 150 km (93 mi) northeast of Toulouse and serves as the prefecture of the Aveyron department within the Occitania region.
The city holds significant administrative status as the capital of the former Rouergue province. It functions as the seat for several major entities, including the communauté d'agglomération Rodez Agglomération, the Diocese of Rodez and Vabres, and the Departmental Council of Aveyron. Additionally, it is the main settlement of the 1st constituency of Aveyron. As of 2023, the population of Rodez was 23,981.
