Sarlat-la-Canéda, frequently referred to as Sarlat, is a commune located in the southwestern French department of Dordogne within the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The municipality was formed in March 1965 through the merger of two previously distinct towns: Sarlat and La Canéda.
