Confolens is a commune located in southwestern France. It serves as one of the two sub-prefectures of the Charente department and functions as the administrative center for a largely rural district.
In recent years, the region has experienced growth in tourism development. On January 1, 2016, the former commune of Saint-Germain-de-Confolens was merged into Confolens.
