Mayenne is a landlocked department located in northwestern France. It derives its name from the river Mayenne, which flows through the region.
The department is situated within the administrative region of Pays de la Loire. It shares borders with the departments of Manche, Orne, Sarthe, Maine-et-Loire, and Ille-et-Vilaine.
